September 5, 2007

Woohoo.

Well, it was okay... nothing really bad happened at least... I went to school at like.. 7:05 this morning and NO ONE WAS THERE. None of my friends, at least. Or any other freshmen. Just hid behind my locker in the freshman wing (N Wing) until some of my friends (including Sarah) showed up. Said hi to people. Compared schedules. Blah blah blah :P

Spanish 3: So I was really really nervous about having this class first period, because of all the older high school people that would be in my class. And also because I've forgotten ALL of my Spanish over the summer (I still need to go over that...). I sat in a desk like.. away from the people that were already there (there were about 3 of them >_>;)... and when people came in, no one sat next to me lol >_> Except the ONLY OTHER FRESHMAN in my class.. who I don't really know. I was kind of scared I'd be like stranded on that side, but fortunately other people filled in.. got surrounded by sophomores, I think. The girl next to me was a conflict mediator last year, so I sort of knew her. x_x Bleh.. and then I was so scared that she was going to make us talk in Spanish.. but she didn't :D Yet. She was just rambling on about her life in Spanish... and she had a really bad accent... like it sounded like the kind of accent a student would have. >_>

Geography/Reference (Computer) Skills: Ummm. I don't like the people in this class, lol. Well, most of them, anyways... don't like the teacher either. He was like.. a mix of the history teachers I had in junior high. Annoying.. sort of... cracks jokes that no one laughs at... And for a computer skills class, the computers look like crap. Really. Like they got enough donations to replace the monitors, but the actual hard drive part sucks. Apparently one of the computers has a 6 GB hard drive. :| The computers in my English class last year were better.

Honors Alg 2/Trig: Hehe, this is the first class of the day that I actually like... I think I might enjoy math this year. :O My classmates are pretty awesome. I've heard from my super-smart friends who took Alg 2/Trig last year that our teacher is really nice. :) Except that she assigns all the homework for the whole unit due on one day, so I'll probably end up procrastinating... a lot... but I'm going to try not to do that so much this year.

Honors Biology: YAY. I think this class is my favorite, hehe. My friend Aileen and I got sort of lost going there, haha.. but it was okay. :D I've heard a lot of good things about the teacher, and that the class is a lot easier than last year's science (Ricks)... but a lot of people apparently fail the first test because they don't study at all. XD Anyways, there's a lot of cool people in this class too.. seems like it'll be fun. :P

Honors English: ... Well this was unexpected... it's a pretty small class (maybe 20 people?) with.. interesting people. And she's a VERY interesting teacher. I'm not sure if she actually teaches much actual English stuff.. like grammar and vocabulary or whatever, but I can tell already that English is going to be fun this year. In a different way. She really gets you thinking... AND she said we MIGHT go on a field trip :O

PE: Uhhhh. Well. Teacher seems nice enough, except kind of tired from the rest of the periods and overwhelmed by our 47-student class. 75% of which are guys. >_> And I'm not all that excited about being the first class to do swimming either... first day in the pool is on Monday. x_x We swim 4 days a week for 4 weeks, and on Fridays we run... only a mile! :D Feels like so little compared to the 2 miles we had to run in 8th grade. Then again, I didn't run at all over the summer.. so the first couple of weeks might be rough :P

After school we PLANNED to go visit Ricks and Peterson (English teacher from last year), but when we walked down there school hadn't gotten out for Hopkins yet and the principal and vice principal were like... patrolling the grounds >_> And they wouldn't even let us step on the grass. :/ And THEN when we told the principal that we wanted to go visit teachers, she just yelled at us and said "Well, if you want to see them, you have to make an APPOINTMENT and sign in at the OFFICE... you guys are adults now!" Ugh... we just wanted to say hi :/ I think we'll go after school on some random day.. maybe tutor the eighth graders :P

So yup... seems like it'll be a pretty interesting year. Of course, these are all first impressions... I'll only really know what the classes are like once I get to know the teachers and we start studying the material. :P
