I watched Al Gore's documentary for the first time today. (It just came on DVD, and my mom ordered it on NetFlix.) It was amazing... I wish I had seen it sooner.
I find it startling that the effects of global warming will affect our generation the most if we keep on living the way we are. My parents seemed a little skeptical, or maybe more indifferent to the actual impacts of global warming. This, I assume, is because they won't be at the peak of their life fifty, even twenty years from now.
When I saw the projected image of what the Bay Area would look like if the glaciers in the North Pole or Greenland melted, I was stunned. Fremont would be underwater. Hey, I live there! Then again, I myself am contributing to the increase in greenhouse gases, so it would be partially my fault. Even if I did everything I could to reduce my own CO2 emissions, it would also be my fault for not spreading the word and helping others reduce theirs.
The Earth is giving back to us what we deserve for treating it badly and taking it for granted. Take Action.
