»Poor Fingers

October 22, 2006

Owww. My hands hurt so bad. x__x First I jammed my finger on Friday while playing basketball. Stupid people who are always fouling you. And then they accuse you of fouling THEM. Hypocrites. T__T;

I spent half the day yesterday changing all my guitar strings. I broke one of them 'cause I twisted it too tight. D: They kept cutting into my fingers and snapping in my face. >.O Boo. Now they're all out of tune. :/

This morning was fun. :D My friends Aileen and Elaine came over to work on our engineering project for science. We're supposed to build a car. We were happy when we got the motor to work. And then we tried to build our own switch out of paper, tape, and aluminum foil. Not exactly the best idea. >_>

On another note.. I think "The Ticking Time Bomb Gone Wrong" scenario is a great idea. I believe it'll make people realize the possibilities of what could happen with this new torture bill. It would work better than just trying to explain to people what the torture bill means to the future of America.

In response to Lloyd's "a dangerous blindness":

As such, what I want to know is this: what is it in contemporary American culture that makes its young people largely inured to politics in all its dimensions?

We've been brought up to think that:

1) Politicians have no idea what they're talking about and they want to trick us out of our money.
2) Politics is boring and confusing.
3) What kids say doesn't matter unless it's REALLY extraordinary, because adults make all the decisions.
4) What popular people say is accepted. So if you're not "popular," tough luck.
5) Who cares about the world, just get good grades and earn money when you grow up.

There are a lot of people who have convinced us that we simply can't change the world "until we're older."

Very good points, Janvi.

Question is... are you convinced? And when, exactly, do you think "older" comes along?
