noun: anything that puzzles.

Just a word I unfortunately didn't know the meaning of when it appeared on today's English quiz.

Life has been quite puzzling these days.

Not only because I've tried several times over the past week or so to try to write a weblog entry. Mostly because of what I've been reading about what's going on in the world (mostly on Lloyd's weblog) and what we're doing about it.

At first I was completely stunned. "Torturing others to make them say what WE want them to say? NO WAY!" Not in our country. That's what happens in places where people don't have a strong government. Places where everyone is in danger.. and there isn't any freedom... where anything can happen...

Then again, the United States could be going down that path. Which is truly frightening, considering that I'll be the one growing up into this kind of a world. I'm surrounded by people who are kind and know better than to do such inhumane things, and yet our government is actually CONSIDERING making it a LAW to torture PEOPLE? Unbelievable. It makes me sick.

I feel like our country's leaders have no heart. They don't represent us Americans... certainly not myself and the many others who think we're being led down a path of destruction. And I thought we were fighting a war against terror, when suddenly we're the ones doing the terrorizing. I'm scared of what the future is going to be like. The United States is my home, and to see it going up in flames is too hard to describe.

But I believe that we CAN turn our country around, in the right direction. If enough of us speak out.. things might change.

Do something.
