This last year...
…has been wonderful :]
Mood: nervous? a little sad
Today: hiked the hill I’ve lived next to for the past six years for the first time
January:
In the weeks following the NYLSC conference, my life continued to change. In January I was writing to my friends from the conference, and my views on the things around me were adjusting to my newly refined values. Our Jazz Band also performed in Downtown Berkeley. Now every time I walk past that restaurant, I pause, look through the window, and I see our band onstage once again.
February:
The first out of many times I watched the Samurai 7 series, and soon after plowed right into Kiddy Grade as well. February seemed relatively uneventful, outside of school. The iSearch was in full flow, and the materials for OneHorn .::. were coming together.
March:
I had my birthday party. Karli came, and Chris. Soon after I cut my hair and donated a foot and nine inches of braided hair to Locks of Love. I still haven’t received word that they got it.
April:
The iSearch was finished, and track season was in full swing. I never got into it as much as I did in 7th grade.
May:
::chuckle:: Beginning to freak out about the STAR tests? And then actually taking them. A rather busy month. We also took our physics field trip to Great America, where I rode out my first roller coaster. I had the most fun there than I’d had in months. Later on, I went on a week-long cruse to the Caribbean, stopping in Florida going and coming.
June:
The Spring Concert was our last concert with Mr. Slous. My favorite school year ended with Marine World and graduation. You’ll never see me in a dress and heels again, unless I decide to go to prom. Here, I said goodbye to two of my best friends; Julie, the first friend I made when I came to Albany Middle in sixth grade, and Katie, who was responsible for the crush-hand reflex I have whenever someone tries to tickle or grab my neck.
TIC began! Starting with the reunion, during which Lloyd hosted the NetHunt 3 and Fogeys beat Youngsters by 1 point.
July:
ATDP ended, and only a few more get-togethers stood between me and 9 months of real school. Here, we also had our farewell trip to Japantown for Katie.
August:
The first TIC trip to the Metreon :) We also took our family vacation to Switzerland and Vienna. School began…the start of 9 months of pining for summer and drifting away from friends.
September:
School started to downspiral very quickly after it began. I started through a long list of troubles in Jazz Lab. I started becoming increasingly obsessed. On a side note, Tansen and I watched the Get Backers series. Kudos for the pretty characters.
October:
Homecoming week was a fun experience. We have an amazing spirited and creative class of seniors.
November:
Theater Ensemble performed Antigone, of which all six nights were a success. ICE also did the first volunteer event of the school year, and the two TIC get-togethers were my highlights of the month. Timothy invited me to Steam, so I started to play CS.
December:
Connie and I were accepted into the art program, which begins tomorrow. As a result I quit Theater Ensemble. We had our first band concert, and the TIC Exploratorium party was the most carefree day of the holiday month.
During this past year, I missed my friends more than anything, and I loved TIC more than ever.
