Serious Speeches

June 16, 2008

I don't seem to be able to make serious speeches. Today, at the City Council meeting, I made a speech recognizing the Ivy League Connection program and what I think I'd be able to accomplish over at Columbia. No matter what situation I'm in, I always try and make some kind of light hearted comment.

Most of the time, people comment on how I made a good speech or how great of a speaker I am, but I can't help but feel that my humor goes to waste. There probably is always that one person that thinks my humor is uncalled for. And usually, in my case, that one person is the one that I'm making the speech for. It's an awfully strange situation to be in. I can entertain the masses, but I can not entertain the one whom I'm entertaining for. Ah well, can't win them all...

Just on a side note, ATDP started today, and it was amazingly awesome. I guess I'm welcome to stick around Japanese 3 after all.
