Guess it's bout time I update this blog again (I should try and think of a design for this place too, but I'm still drawin a blank in that category) Anyway, today I'd say would be one of those milestones in life...

I got my license.

The experience itself wasn't really all that great, the tester was this Filipino guy with a really strong accent. (My friend said I should hope not to get him since his instructions are slightly harder to understand. It wasn't so bad though.) Anyway, by the end of the test, I had 8 marks out of the 15 allowable mistakes. apparently my issue is looking both ways at a light. I think he just didn't see my eyes, since I might not have turned my head to exaggerate my motion to him. Either way I passed so I'm not sweatin' it.

What happened afterwards is what made me wonder if I really should have passed. My judgement in terms of speed has never been to great. On foot I usually compensate with side stepping, which usually isn't something people can do with a car. Basically what happens is some van nearly hits me cause they didn't yield... RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DMV. augh....
so pretty much right after I get my license I almost get into an accident. smart.

The whole idea of driving doesn't really seem that appealing to me. I mean most people get excited about the extra freedom and all, but it just kind of odd to me. It seems like it's gonna just be more responsibility, which, seems to coming in a lot senior year. It's not exactly something I look forward to. Don't get me wrong, it's great to be able to do all this stuff now, but at the same time, I want to stay a kid who doesn't need to worry about so many things. Really, I'd rather not wanna deal with potential accidents from driving in traffic (I HATE traffic)

ah, screw it. I'll just drive and get used to it.

augh... from the look of the last entry it's been 3 months since I've even looked at this thing, and it's about time I changed that fact. I could lie and say things have been really hectic as of late, but honest truth is that I haven't really been keeping up with my online stuff, and didn't feel like dealing with all this stuff right now. But first things first, a lil' bit of an update of what's been going on lately.

So where to start? I still haven't changed the default design of this blog, even though I do have an mt conversion from Kass, (yes I haven't forgotten about it) but not only have I been neglecting to keep this thing up to date, but as far as layouts and designs have gone... I've been in a non-creative state and haven't been able to come up with any new designs, for this or for school.

In school I'm supposed to design the senior t-shirt design, (or at least I'm expected to, since I designed the leadership shirts this year on a whim) and I'm supposed to keep up a couple club websites, in addition to revamping the school's main site. Unfortunately the stack of coding books I've bought are still.... just a stack of coding books I've bought. I kind of wish I did take classes this year since it seems like that's what Janvi and the rest of them are learning right now. Really hopin' this stuff isn't as complicated as it looks right now. Though honestly all this coding stuff is second priority to... the rest of my life right now.

Mostly I've been kinda focused on schoolwork and AP tests, getting ready for senior year and such. (or so I claim) Researching schools, taking SATs, AP tests, etc. (the resutlts of which, I'm pretty happy with) Now that the school year's ended though, and I'm not takin' classes this summer, I've gone back to my lazy vacation mode.

See, I was planning on getting a job this summer and working the majority of the time, at which point I wouldn't be able to take classes or do much else except on weekends and such. Unfortunately for me I kind of missed the summer hiring rush and thus didn't get any callbacks or anything of the like. I didn't try very hard to get a job, so I'm not too broken up about it, but it's still saddening.

Another priority I'm trying to take care of this summer is finally getting that license I should have gotten 6 months ago. Not that I regret not getting it earlier, but I just need to get this outta the way before school starts. I do NOT want to be going to college without a license, so I might as well take care of it while I have the time. Thing about it is I gotta practice driving with my dad, who has decided to become very impatient with his last driving student (he's taught the rest of my immediate family how to drive too). Apparently his roadside patience has just about dried up just in time for my arrival at the wheel... which is just... perfect. With some luck I'll be driving by the end of this month, though looking at how my dad criticizes my driving, I'll be lucky with driving by the start of school.

And life goes on...

Come to think of it I still haven't researched any colleges like I planned to...

Augh... the random "analysis essay" on english is back..... and I did less than satisfactory. and you know what I got marked down for? The points I was making!! "You're stating the obvious" Because my point was to show how obvious this is! "You don't use any real examples" because theyre irrelevent!!!

I swear that this man has it out for me, complaining about the points I made and using them as negatives. I can understand him saying I was reptitive - even though I was trying to simply fill space since got to the point faster than he wanted me to - he set a minimum of 2 pages on an essay that would really only amount to a full page of quality arguments tops.

I have the option of redoing the essay, but it has to be on the same freaking topic with the same setup - which has me royally vexed - and if I happen to do worse the second time around it will count against me. In other words, I gamble my grade by replacing my assignment. Since I already hate the topic and can't extract enough content as is, I'm probably going to end up taking this stupid grade, and hope to [insert deity of preference] that the year flies by quickly without any major troubles (such as dropping below the 90%).

Who assigns an essay with the prompt "write an essay analyzing [noun]" THERE'S NO PURPOSE TO THE ANALYSIS. what makes an analysis essay an analysis essay is the fact that it uses analysis to prove its point rather than simply stating evidence and say "here ya go." You can't simply say write an essay analyzing this and now it's an analysis essay because the analysis will be disjointed and serve no purpose. To have an analysis essay create a prompt that asks to verify a statement or prove a point. You can't say analyze this and expect a sharp focused essay. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR TOPIC IS ADS. Half of my class had absolutely no idea what the hell is was we were supposed to write, and the other half just didn't care.

This teacher makes WAY too many assumptions when assigning things, and because of these assumptions he thinks the answer is SOOOO obvious to us.... When we see it in an opposite view. Example: in a rhetorical terms quiz we had to identify the question "do you enjoy summer vacation" as a rhetorical question because he ASSUMES that EVERYONE loves summer vacations therefore the question isn't worth answering. I can tell you right now that if it weren't for ATDP I'd HATE summer vacation because there's simply NOTHING TO FREAKING DO. Second assumption he makes that creates confusion among the class. "EVERYONE has seen enough printed ads to write a full 2-3 page essay." WHO THE HELL PAYS ATTENTION TO THAT MANY ADS!?! one. I spend most of my time ONLINE: a completely different type of advertising where slogans, logos, and fancy images aren't normally used and "congrats you're our 100000 visitor! click here for your prize!!!" are much more common. The style of advertising is completely opposite of what he's looking for. He assumes that EVERYONE reads magazines to the point where they've seen enough ads to write about them. two. I DON'T READ MAGAZINES. the only magazines in my house are Mechanical Engineering magazines, that don't have flashy ads for trendy products, so the topic he's looking for isn't present. three. When I pointed this out to him, (the fact that there aren't magazines in my house and most ads I see are ONLINE and completely different) he says: you could write about that too... just use them as examples for one of these topics" IT DOESN'T WORK. Should I mention that he'll cut anyone's essay practically in half when they use absolutes and here he is making so many assumptions with absolutes that had I written an essay using his quotes he probably would have bled to death on the paper with red ink?

I feel like I should also mention this same teacher considers the term "speakers" when referring to a sound system to be figurative language because speakers don't technically "speak." That'd be like if I said a girl named Asia had a name that was figurative speech because she isn't really Asia. He dosen't fully justify his claims, and as a result makes assumptions that are faulty at best.

I just can't stand it.

alright. I have, for the past year or so, HATED english essays on the grounds that they are all overly descriptive and do not serve much purpose in terms of getting to the point when supporting a thesis. Every year I've hoped for an ANALYSIS essay, so that I can actually do something I'm good at, and use english class to develop a skill I might actually USE. Now my teacher has FINALLY complied and assigned an analysis essay, but has limited the scope of the essay topic to the point where THERE IS NO ANALYSIS in the topic.

"Sample Topics"
The way ads push a materialistic value system of compulsive consumption
Ad slogans, text, or pictures that give a false impression without technically lying
Ads that send the message that things are more important/ better than human relationships

These are only a few of the topics... and NONE OF THEM require analysis! This essay is a descriptive essay under the guise of an analytical essay. There is no analysis in these topics how anything happens. I'm sure you could ATTEMPT to show some sort of cause and effect to how a particular method would have certain side-effects that are unintended, but that isn't even his focus of the topic! His focus is "how ads MANIPULATE people" or how asd have "a HARMFUL effect on teenagers" or how ads "TAKE ADVANTAGE" of vagueness. Every example topic he has provided demonizes ads and disregards the inteded purpose of the advertisement. TO SELL THE DAMN PRODUCT.

He might as well have handed us an essay prompt saying "explain how advertising is evil and it the bane of society" and it would have resulted in the same essay. And now I have to put up with this Bullsh- and write a freaking 2 page essay on ads. not even any particular aspect of ads. Just ads. No real topic... just an "analytical" essay on ads.

Just heard today about this detainee bill thing from Lloyd today. He asked me to write about it, rather than rant/respond in the IM window, so I guess I'll jot down a few thoughts here.

Basically what I heard about this is that because of this bill torture for interrogation is now legal here in the US as a legitimate way to obtain information from captured terrorists, etc. These methods have been unofficially used in the past, and are now legal.

From the look of things, the view of "the ends justify the means" seems to be the attitude on how this bill got passed. If the US seems it's necessary to physically or psychologically assault suspects in order to break the will of those captured, there are some seriosu issues to be brought up by this. What are the regulations determining when this is an appropriate method to use? Surely this isn't legalized in all forms of interrogation, since there are cases that are simply to small for it to be necessary to go to such lengths simply to find out more. If this is the case, there will still be a lot of controversy over when such a method is appropriate... if at all.

From the government's standpoint, they have captured suspects who may hold information that will lead them to finally finishing these issues that have been goin on lately, but due to ethical issues the US has, they can't seem to break the wills of those who are in custpdy, since in order to break such wils, the US will need to go beyond what is ethical. psycological trauma and attacks based off of the beliefs of the captured are VERY effective in breaking down one's mental stability, making it easier to extract information. But the costs of using such methods are very steep.

The scars left on those interrogated will never fade, and the hostilities in the Middle East shall rise to higher levels now that we are using their very beliefs as a front to attack them on. This shall cause all sorts of issues to arise and can potentially make our stuation a lot worse due to the way people can respond to this decision. I can already see that there will be a case where the interrogated suspect is deemed innocent and is now forever scarred by the psycological and possibly physical attacks. Imagine what this decision will do to the way people see America. We held the reputation of being a land of opportunity, where the system is fair and just....

Just look how far we've deviated from that in the name of "justice."

By looking at the possible outcomes of making the decision to legalize torture, America also sends out a message, whether consciously or not, that we will go to whatever measures necessary to obtain our objective (even if it means revoking the natural rights of people). This is not a message "liberators" want to portray. It says that ethics comes secondary to objectives. The ends justify the means. That statement does not take into consideration the aftereffects once the ends have been met. The aftereffects of this decision cannot be stopped once put into motion. In fact, it may already be too late to stop these effects, since the US even CONISIDERED the bill, it shows the morals of this nation (or at least its government) are weakening. These effects are already in motion, since here we are, writing about how easily one decision can change the way people view the nation.

Should I talk about Lamquake's obsession with Sara, or not?
Hm. Well, since I already pointed that out...I'm going to be nice and cool off from his "personal paarazzi." Hahaha.

Pandagamer: when did my blog turn into a personal paparazzi?

But I DO need an example to support my fact. So. His obsession...
All day, he complains about how either Sara hasn't said hi to him, or she hasn't signed on. And when she finally does, his excitement level quickly increases and gives an outburst of happiness. It's actually quite scary sometimes, you know...and I'M the one who has to deal with it. Apart from Sara. XD

That's all I'm going to say for now, so he doesn't kill me. Haha. ;P Of COURSE he won't... -___-;;

kokiinlow: I'll be like LAMQUAKE IS SO OBSESSED WITH SARA.
Dennis: Keeps avid readers like me, interested
Pandagamer: ::blibks::
Pandagamer: blinks*
Pandagamer: she said it
Dennis: If you want to keep a reader
Pandagamer dies
Dennis: then let her do it
kokiinlow: Lammy loves Sara!
Pandagamer: gaaah........
Dennis: because Its keeping me interested =)

I'm glad I'm keep ya'll interested in these posts.
I'm doing the best I can. ;)

WHOOOO. This is KOKI, jacking Lamquake's weblog..
JUST KIDDING. :D He gave me permission to update his weblog once in a while, so it wouldn't DIE. MrPanda. What a lameee name, right? Cuz the URL totally should've been LAMQUAKE. But, NO! He wouldn't! Hehehehe.

So a few minutes ago, Lammy was trying to guess who controlled aida. And it took him about thirty minutes to finally find the answer: EVERYONE. Hahaha, he's so slow.... ^____^;;
I don't have much to say right now. Especially when it's 12:40AM and you're updating for someone else on their blog. xD But yeah, I feel so special.
Oh. One more thing about Lamquake besides the fact that he's slow.

So he loves this girl...
