Games
These are some of my favorite games in no particular order.
- Diablo II
In Diablo II, return to a world of dark fantasy as one of five distinct character types using an advanced combat system that incorporates class-specific fighting techniques and spells on several new dark and sinister quests, pulling you into the very depths of hell itself. Journey across distant lands, fight new villains, discover new treasures, and uncover ancient mysteries, all in the quest to stop the Lord of Terror once and for all. This dark role-playing adventure offers multiplayer support, including Internet play through Battle.net.
- Alpha Centauri
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri presents an epic science-fiction struggle to gain control of an entire planet. Seven human factions, all with severe philosophical and cultural differences, vie for control over the new outpost of the human race: Alpha Centauri. Gameplay is turn based, so there's plenty of time to ponder over each of your highly detailed moves. Building units can be customized, the direction of your society's research must be set, and the 3D terrain must be explored. The rich sci-fi storyline unifies the intricate and complex aspects of the game. Alpha Centauri is for those who want depth in their sci-fi strategy games.
- Majesty
Majesty is a unique simulation that puts you in the hotseat of your own kingdom. As king, you make the decisions of where to build your settlement, what kind of buildings to put there and how you want to create your heroes. Each hero has a mind of his own, and must be enticed to meet your goals, via rewards you offer and spells you cast. Meanwhile, you must make sure that your treasury stays full of cash to support these and other outlays necessary to maintain a thriving medieval town. The fact that you are being barraged by attacks from mythical beasts and fantastic creatures doesn't make your job any easier.
- Master of Orion II
Master of Orion II is the sequel to Master of Orion produced by Microprose. In many respects it is similar to Civilization II and Colonisation with colony building, research and diplomacy. MoOII also alows custom race design, up to 7 opponents, human or computer, tactical combat and much more
- Starcraft
As commander of the Terrans, Protoss, or Zerg species, StarCraft players embark on a collision course for galactic domination. Journey to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, where you'll take command of an elite team of Confederate Marines in this fully playable demo of StarCraft. Whether you're new to real-time strategy games or a skilled veteran, you'll be faced with the challenge of leading your troops to victory over powerful and truly alien opponents. Can you restore peace to the fringe-world of Chau Sara? There are three all-new missions that foreshadow the upcoming galactic war, an optional tutorial mission to introduce new players to the ways of war, and head-to-head play via modem, serial link, IPX network, and over the Internet through Battle.net.
- Escape Velocity Override
EV: Override is Ambrosia's follow-up to the classic space adventure game Escape Velocity. You are cast as a pioneering space captain with only a small shuttle craft, a bit of money, and a sense of adventure. Make money running cargo across the universe in order to buy a better spacecraft, or undertake dangerous rescue missions on enemy worlds. Override features a universe five times the size of the original game and a slew of populated worlds within. The game takes advantage of an improved Escape Velocity engine for better gameplay, and it has enhanced flexibility for scenario developers. Additionally, it contains new graphics and sound, more than 250 new missions, and a multitude of human and alien governments.
- Heroes 3
Heroes of Might and Magic III is a turn-based strategic war game, set up in a classical role-playing game Environment. It involves capturing and developing towns, gathering resources, assembling armies and sending them into combat. The resources (gold, wood, ore, gems, crystal, mercury, and sulfur) can be found mostly in mines and are gathered once a day. They are used to build new buildings in your towns, to improve existing buildings, to buy armies, etc. Each army is led by a hero and consists of up to seven stacks of creatures raised in towns or recruited in countryside. Each game scenario has its own objective which can vary from capturing a specific castle to finding the Holy Grail.
- Avernum & Avernum2
Avernum is a prison. It is an enormous warren of tunnels and caverns, far below the surface world. You were banished there by the cruel Empire, to spend the rest of your life in the underworld. At first, it seemed like you and your many fellow prisoners might be able to form a nation and live in peace, far from the sun.
